As the car speed down the interstate, Linc tried to absorb as much as possible. The only thing stopping him from coming out of his skin was Chris’s warm hand that was resting on his thigh as they drove. And then he saw the sign, and he almost stopped breathing. There were three signs that read, Brooks Avenue, Hwy 81 and then… Tuskegee Cemetery. Linc’s mind was screaming, no, stop, and retreat! But then, there was a part of him that was ecstatic that Chris would want to share this with him, thinking back to what Chris had said to him the night before they left New York. “It’s time for me to say goodbye.” Chris was taking him to Amanda, to her grave, so he could say goodbye. Linc couldn’t hold back the tears that fell from his eyes.
Linc hadn’t even realized that Chris had parked the car until he felt Chris’s hand on his shoulder. Turning slightly in his seat, Linc looked over into sad brown eyes, and yet, Linc was smiling at him. “I’m sorry I haven’t been myself these past few days, but…” Chris paused as he looked out the window, Linc followed his eyes but all he saw was grave, after grave, after grave. “I just wanted you with me when I do this, is that okay? If it’s not, then you can wait in the car, I guess I should have asked before but…” Chris was rambling, looking down into his lap like he often did when he was confused or uncertain.
“Hey, we’re in this together, remember.” Linc reassured him, squeezing his hand for good measure. Chris looked up and smiled, squeezing back before he opened the car door and got out. Chris walked through the maze of graves until he came upon a one with a large cross on top, the initials “AJS” etched into the stone. Chris just stood at the foot of the grave and stared at the stone for what seemed like forever before he finally spoke.
“Hey Manda, I’m sorry I haven’t visited in a while, I’ve been kind of busy. After the accident everything fell apart, I fell apart. You wouldn’t have even recognized the person I became.” The last sentence came out barely more than a whisper and Chris lowered his head, as if ashamed. Linc moved closer to him, putting his lover in arms reach, but not actually reaching out to touch him just yet.
“Michael helped me. He jerked a knot in my ass and took me to New York with him. He was all I had for so long Manda, him and my memories of you, of us. God, I’m so sorry Manda, I’m so sorry.” Chris’s shoulders shook as he started crying, still Linc didn’t reach out to touch him, not yet. He had to wait for Chris to reach for him.
Chris regained his composure before kneeling down and pulling the dead bundle of grass out of the vase that sat next to the grave, dropping a gorgeous bouquet of lilies into the metal vase. Linc drew back and wondered, where did those come from exactly? He couldn’t remember stopping for flowers.
“I miss you Manda, I miss talking to you and kissing you, touching you, I miss everything about you. But I can’t live my life that way anymore. As much as I wish you were still here, you aren’t, and I have to put one foot in front of the other and move on with my life, unless I want to occupy the space next to you here in the dirt.” Linc winced when Chris talked about being buried next to her. But before he could voice an opinion, Chris stood and wiped his eyes, reaching out and grasping Linc’s hand in his.
“I’ve met someone Manda, and he is so amazing, you’d love him I think. His name is Lincoln and he’s so smart and loving and he puts up with my shit, and he’s beautiful,” Chris said, smiling over at Linc. “I wanted my happy ever after to be with you Manda, but fate had other plans for us. I just hope that you are smiling down on us, that you would be happy for me. I’ll never forget you Amanda,” Chris whispered and Linc watched as Chris absentmindedly ran his fingers over the tattoo that wasn’t visible while clothed, the heart with her initials inside it. “I’ll always love you, but now I’m going to give some of that love to Lincoln, and hope he loves me in return.”
At those words Linc reached over and grabbed Chris’s jacket by the collar, jerking his body around to face him. “Yes! I do, god so much, I love you Christopher, I really do.” Linc held tight to Chris’s jacket, searching his eyes, wanting… no needing Chris to feel the same way.
Chris stood staring, speechless for several long moments before he spoke. “Lincoln, I can’t tell you how much it means to me that you would share that with me here, of all places. And while I can’t return the words quite yet, I’m on that road, I’m travelling the same path and I want to love you more than anything. Can you accept that for now? Accept that I am falling in love with you every day that I get spend with you?”
Linc nodded his head enthusiastically, leaning in and kissing Chris gently, tears running down his cheeks. Pulling back, Linc buried his head in Chris’s chest. Chris kissed the top of his head, just holding Linc in his arms and running his hands up and down Linc’s back. “I’ve been so messed up for so long Linc, I didn’t think I deserved to be happy. And then when I thought about fighting my way back to the land of the living, I just didn’t know how, but you held my hand and helped me, thank you for that.” Chris was about to pull Linc up for another kiss when a throat cleared behind him, jerking him out of the happy moment.
Chris turned, putting Linc’s body behind him, and stared into the sad eyes of Adam, Amanda’s brother. “Adam,” he whispered, unable to say anything more than that. Adam just nodded once in his direction, then turned and walked over to his sister’s grave, sitting the roses he held down on top, smiling at the bouquet of lilies that took up the vase. Adam stood and faced Chris, just staring at him, not moving, not speaking. Chris braced himself for the blow he was certain would come, but Adam just stood and stared at him for what seemed like hours before he finally spoke.
“I heard everything you said just now, I was sitting in my car when you and your friend pulled up, and I followed you over here. Jesus Chris, I’ve put all my energy into hating you for so long, that I never sat back and thought about how Amanda would have wanted me to act after the accident. She loved you more than life itself, she was so happy and when she died because of your fucking mistake, I hated you and wanted to lay your body out right here next to her.” Adam growled out the last sentence and Chris felt Linc tense up beside him.
“Five years of hate can make a man do stupid things, and I’m tired of hating you Chris. Can’t says I like you very much, but I can respect how much you and my sister loved each other, and maybe you’ve suffered enough in all this.” Adam’s words spoke of forgiveness, but his posture was still rigid, until Chris engulfed him in a tight hug. Adam tried to pull back at first, but eventually he melted into the hug, that reminded him of moments the two of them shared as friends before the accident happened and tore apart more lives than just Chris and Amanda’s.
Chris eventually pulled away and reached back, grabbing Linc’s hand and pulling him forward, “Adam, I’d like you to meet Lincoln, my boyfriend,” Chris said, and Linc almost melted right there at his feet.
Adam stared at them with a bewildered look, but he took the offered hand and shook. “No shit, so you’re gay now?” he asked.
Chris shook his head, “No, I’m bi; I can still appreciate a beautiful woman when I see one, but Linc and I are in a committed relationship.”
“No shit?” Adam just stared at them.
“No shit,” Chris chuckled, repeating him.
After a few more “no shits” from Adam, the three of them finally found their way back to their vehicles and agreed to meet for dinner at the diner back at the hotel. Linc had a blast talking to Adam, learning secrets about Chris and just thoroughly enjoying the ease that had settled over Chris since before they had left New York. Adam talked about his life in California, his wife and twin daughters.
“Yeah, once I graduated I had to get out of here. Mom and Dad were miserable all the time, people looked at me like I was the poor pitiful brother of the dead girl, I just couldn’t take it. So when I got accepted to Berkley, I accepted. I met Janet, my wife, my first semester and we’ve been together ever since. Married four years, and our girls Jean and Sophie just turned two last month,” Adam said, smiling
, pulling out his wallet and showing them a picture of two little girls with big blue eyes and almost white blonde hair.
Chris ran his fingers over the image and whispered, “Jean.” tears formed in his still red eyes again. “You gave your daughter her name.”
Adam nodded, smiling. “Yeah, I did, and the girls both look so much like Amanda. But that smile you see, that is from Janet’s side of the family. Sophie was her grandmother’s name, she died from Breast Cancer a few years ago, and so we are honoring the loved ones we lost in our girls.”
Adam was about to put the picture back in his wallet when Linc noticed a familiar face smiling at him, upside down, so he asked if he could see it. Adam pulled out a picture that shown a younger version of Chris, his curly red hair much shorter, and there on his back was the most beautiful blonde haired, blue eyed girl Linc thought he’d ever seen. They were both smiling not just with their mouths, but with their eyes, looking into the camera without a care in the world. It was the same picture that sat in Chris’s wallet to remind him of the girl he once loved.
“Wow, you’ve talked about her so much I almost feel like I knew her too, but, Wow. She’s beautiful,” Linc said as he smiled down at the picture. He handed it back to Adam who tucked it back behind the picture of his daughters, putting his wallet back in his jacket pocket.
“Well,” Adam eyed his watch, “I’ve got a plane to catch so I really need to get going.”
Linc nodded as he stood, “Yeah, we have to get to the airport too, our flight leaves in two hours.”
Adam shook both men’s hand again as he climbed into his rental car and extended the offer for them to come visit, meet his wife and daughters if they were ever in California. Chris promised to do just that as he tucked Adam’s business card into his pocket, patting it for good measure. Linc turned to get into their rental when Chris stopped him, placing a hand on his shoulder and turning Linc back to face him. He wrapped his arms loosely around Linc’s neck, “Thank you for being here with me. This will probably be my last trip to Alabama, there’s nothing left for me here anymore. I’m glad I got to say goodbye with you.” And then he leaned in and kissed him, right there in the parking lot of the restaurant.
Linc jerked back when a car sped by honking, some stupid fucking hillbilly yelling, “Fucking faggots!” out the window.
Chris just smiled at him, ignoring the bigot, as he opened Linc’s car door for him. “Come on, let’s go home.”
~ Chapter 14 | Finally ~
The mood when they landed back at LaGuardia airport was much more relaxed than the mood had been just days ago when they left. Where Chris had been withdrawn, somber and quiet, now he was smiling, jovial and held Linc’s hand every chance he got. Linc knew that it wasn’t just the trip, saying goodbye to Amanda and that painful past that set Chris’s mind at ease. It was the visit with Adam and seeing the picture of his daughters, knowing that Amanda would live on through little Jean.
After getting their bags and hauling them through the airport, down to the parking garage, finally climbing into Chris’s truck, they were on their way. Linc was about to doze off when he noticed they were heading away from Mamaroneck, he turned his head toward Chris, “Babe, where are we going?” He asked, finishing the question with a yawn.
“I booked us a room at a hotel in Chelsea for the night. I didn’t want to go back to the house just yet. I mean, this was supposed to be our vacation and it was all doom and gloom. I want us to end this on a positive note. We will go to the hotel, shower and curl up in bed together with room service and bad TV. Then tomorrow, we will go home,” Chris said, taking Linc’s hand in his and pulling it up to his lips, kissing the knuckles. Linc flushed and felt his cock stir in his pants. Chris just laughed at him, seeming to sense his situation.
“Besides, I’d like to wake up tomorrow morning with you naked in my arms, and us be the only two people in the room.” They both laughed at that uncomfortable memory.
When they arrived at the hotel, Chris valet parked and paid the concierge extra to get the bags and bring them up to their room. He shoved Linc toward the shower and once he heard the water turn on, he rushed to the phone and ordered a bottle of champagne with a fruit and cheese tray, asking them to send it up immediately, there would be a little something extra if they had it there in ten minutes.
Twenty minutes later Linc exited the bathroom to find the room bathed in candlelight, champagne chilling on the bedside table, and Chris leaning back against the head board, naked as the day he was born. “C’mere” Chris beckoned him over, his voice was low and deep, Linc could almost feel the need that was wrapped around the word. He fought the urge to run across the room and dive into the bed, into Chris’s arms, and forced himself to slowly walk toward the bed. Chris held his arms out, but instead of climbing into them, Linc grabbed the champagne and a glass, filling it half way and handing it to Chris.
Filling his own glass halfway, Linc then slid down onto the bed, sitting next to Chris. He leaned into him and kissed him, and just as Chris reached up to wrap his hand around his neck, Linc pulled back, smiling. Linc spent the next five minutes torturing the man he loved. He fed Chris a grape, then a strawberry followed by a cube of cheese. After they toasted and downed the contents of their glasses, Linc reached for the bottle, intent on refilling but Chris grabbed the glass out of his hand and chucked them both toward the chair that sat on the other side of the bed. Linc laughed when he heard glass break, “That’ll cost you.”
“They can fucking bill me.” Chris growled, grabbing Linc and pulling him down, claiming his mouth in a demanding kiss. Flipping their bodies where Linc was lying on his back, Chris slid in between his spread thighs and ground his hips down into Linc’s, drawing a long moan from his lover. He smiled before he took control of Linc’s mouth again, reaching down and grabbing Linc’s leg, wrapping it over his hip. Linc willingly wrapped his legs around Chris’s waist and rutted into his body, their hard dicks rocking together as they moved their hips in sync. It didn’t take long before Chris was pulling back, “Jesus, I’m gonna come just like this, and I want to be inside you this time when I come.”
Just the words, the thought of finally having Chris claim him made Linc shudder. Sure they’d fucked on film, but Linc seriously wanted to be pinned underneath Chris’s strong body while the man made love to him. Chris kissed him again before climbing out of bed and heading toward the bathroom. “Where are you going?” Linc moaned, he sounded like a petulant child.
Chris just laughed, “To take a piss and grab the lube and condoms,” he called over his shoulder.
Linc smiled and rolled over onto his stomach, he was drinking straight from the bottle when he felt Chris crawling onto the bed, then up his body, dragging his tongue up Linc’s leg. Chris had recently watched a handful of videos online to learn the art of rimming. He had been petrified after his brief conversation with Jordan all those months ago. But after watching some of the guys doing the act while assisting on shoots, watching it online, seeing how much both men enjoyed it, he really wanted to try for Linc. It was something he hadn’t done yet with anyone, and a thrill shot through him, knowing he was sharing something with Linc that he’d never done with anyone else.
Linc panted and moaned underneath him as Chris ran his tongue over his skin, leaving a trail of wet heat behind. When Chris grabbed him by the hips and pulled his ass up in the air, Linc gasped. Chris hovered over him for a few intense moments, panting, running his hand down the tattoo that ran along Linc’s spine. When Chris spread his cheeks open and gently ran the tip of his tongue over his taint, then across his sensitive opening, Linc cried out. “Oh Fuck!”
Chris chuckled and continued to just lick and suck on the sensitive skin that circled Linc’s hole. He didn’t know what to expect, would this area of the body smell different, wrong? How would it taste? What he learned was that Linc did smell different, musky and manly and the taste was barely bitter, a little tangy, but it wasn’t unpleasant. In fact, the noises that
Linc was making as Chris licked his ass like an ice cream cone made Chris’s cock twitch. He dipped the tip of his tongue inside Linc’s hole and Linc almost came up off the bed, throwing his head back and crying out again. “Goddamn, Chris, that feels fucking amazing. Please don’t stop!”
Chris could feel his shaft pulsing and knew if he didn’t fuck Linc soon, he’d come just from the reaction the man was having to the rimming, and he desperately wanted to be inside Linc when he came. He leaned back on his knees and pushed Linc’s body back down onto the bed. He sucked two fingers into his mouth before circling Linc’s hole that seemed to be pulsing, as if begging to be breached.
“Fuck!” Linc grunted and squirmed around on the bed as Chris gently breached his body with one finger. He pushed his finger into Linc’s warm channel all the way to the knuckle then wiggled it around, Linc groaned and squirmed underneath him.
